Gluten-Free, Dairy-Free & Vegan Wedding Cakes: What's Genuinely Possible

Dietary requirements shouldn't ever mean compromising on a wedding cake that looks and tastes every bit as wonderful as everyone else's slice. The genuinely good news is that gluten free, dairy free, refined-sugar-free and vegan options are all warmly possible, they simply need to be part of the conversation from the very start, rather than tacked on as an afterthought.

What Can Genuinely Be Done

Dietary care is woven into the process at every tier of consultation, not offered as a limited side menu you're steered toward. That means real cake, with real texture and real flavour, rather than a compromise everyone can quietly tell is the "special" cake sitting at the back of the table.

Wedding Cakes, Not Just Celebration Cakes

Dietary accommodation isn't limited to the smaller celebration menu, it's woven into full wedding tier design too. Jess & Jade's three-tier wedding cake, for example, included a 6" Gluten Free Vanilla Butter Cake tier alongside two standard tiers, all finished in the same White Chocolate Italienne Meringue Buttercream, so the gluten-free tier looked completely seamless with the rest of the cake and nobody could tell the difference.

The key is mixed tiers: if only one or two guests need a dietary option, a dedicated GF, DF or vegan tier, or even simply the top tier, can be woven into a multi-tier wedding cake, so everyone eats from the very same beautiful cake, with no separate plate required.

What This Costs

Some dietary versions carry a small surcharge, reflecting different ingredients and, often, more careful preparation to avoid cross-contamination. As an example, a Double Chocolate Fudge cake runs $110–$240 depending on size, with the gluten-free version priced at $120–$260. It's a gentle difference, not a whole different price bracket.

If what you need isn't already on the menu, that's exactly what the Custom Recipe Development add-on is there for, an initial trial of a new flavour or dessert concept, developed properly and thoughtfully rather than guessed at on the day.
